“80 Percent Is Good Enough To Get Started”
Interview with Hatla Færch Johnsen, Co-Founder of uQualio
This is part of the EdTech Female Founder (#EFF) interview series brought to you by SuperCharger Ventures.
What inspired you to start your EdTech Founder journey?
A picture says more than 1000 words — a 1-minute video says more than 3.000.000 words.
Video eLearning makes it super easy to show how and what you want people to do — and when people know what to do they smile. And smiling spreads.
So making a video eLearning platform that makes it easy and affordable for anyone to make eLearning videos has been our target.
Describe your company in one sentence.
uQualio makes it super easy and affordable to make video eLearning for any industry.
What should an aspiring EdTech founder know before initiating their startup journey?
Don’t be afraid of making mistakes — we all do!
What has been the most difficult moment as a founder and how did you overcome it?
It has been and still is difficult for us to reach companies that already work with video and to show them that they can take their videos to the next level in minutes… We have to use the words that are there and we are a hybrid between video distribution and an LMS.
What can the EdTech industry do to improve the gender gap?
Make sure that female-founded companies are promoted!
Can you tell us about a role model of yours?
I am a huge fan of Anne Skare Nielsen — a futurist. She aims for the stars, shows trends and at the same time moves the world towards them. I love that!
Can you tell us an example of when you had to pivot?
We realized that businesses wants a ‘white-label platform’ and not a shared social platform so currently we only offer this — but we need to get a social platform at some stage again…
What will you consider as success in 5 years from now?
uQualio being the most preferred video eLearning platform in the world!
Looking back, what advice would you have liked to have received before starting your company?
Make more time to do things right from the start…
